OpenVPN was invented by James Yonan and published under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It engages in key exchange through the TLS/SSL protocol. It can be used through firewalls and network address translations (NATs).

There are several possible ways for peers to authenticate each other using OpenVPN. What makes it so secure is that every packet of data is checked after it’s been received for accuracy. This ensures that your data is fully protected and you have fewer corrupted downloads.
