What is a Kill Switch and How Do You Set it Up?

A Kill Switch is a VPN feature that protects users by shutting down their Internet connection temporarily when they lose connection to the VPN. That way they don’t accidentally send unsecured information. When the connection is re-established, so is the Internet connection.

How to Set Up a Kill Switch on Windows and MacOS

 

1. For both Windows and MacOS, simply activate the Kill Switch Toggle on the main screen of the PrivadoVPN app.

How to Set Up Kill Switches on Android

1. Open the settings on your Android Device and select Network & Internet.

 

 

2. Select VPN.

 

 

3. Press the gear icon next to PrivadoVPN and toggle on Always-on VPN.

 

 

4. Select Block connections without VPN and when the Require VPN connection? Box comes up, Select Turn On.

 

5. Test your Kill Switch by opening your PrivadoVPN app and turning off the VPN. If your Internet no longer works when you’re not connected to PrivadoVPN, then it has been set up correctly.

How to Set Up Kill Switches on iOS

1. Open the settings on your iOS Device and select VPN.

 

 

2. Select PrivadoVPN and click on the (i) icon.

 

 

3. Turn Connect on Demand toggle to on position.

 

 

 

4. Test your Kill Switch by opening your PrivadoVPN app and turning off the VPN. If your Internet no longer works when you’re not connected to PrivadoVPN, then it has been set up correctly.
